Sulfur Treatment
Sulfur is a yellowish solid chemical element. Sulfur water is water containing objective amounts of hyrdrogen sulfide gas, which causes an offensive "rotten egg" odor. Hydrogen sulfide, also known as sulfur, is a corrosive and flammable gas often found dissolved in well water. Hydrogen sulfide develops from decaying organic matter from sulfate reducing bacteria and from petroleum refining. The odor is present when you open a spigot because the gas is being oxidized by the oxygen in the air.
We have two (2) different methods or filters available for sulfur removal. The first is by using a green sand filter with potassium permagante to regenerate the media in the green sand filter. This handles upto 3-5 ppm fairly effectively. Our most tried and true method is using a catalytic carbon filter and using hyrdogen peroxide to regenerate the filter media. This system is able to be dialed up or down if your sulfur level fluxuates, which usually varies with barometric pressure.
